Who We Are
Habayit (the home) is a chavurah – a tight-knit, multigenerational friend group – where Jewish and Israeli education unfold through connection. We are a living Jewish home in Maine.
Our story started around kitchen tables and has evolved into a family learning group with over 30 families. Rooted in our past through our affiliation with Etz Chaim Synagogue, which has been a cornerstone of Jewish life in Maine for over 100 years, we also look toward our future as we nurture the next generation.
What We Believe
We believe in nurturing a deep love and joyful understanding of Jewish identity and K’lal Yisrael (Jewish unity) through immersive experiences that connect our children and their families to our heritage, values, and shared story.
What We Do
We bring Jewish and Israeli education to life through joyful, relationship-driven experiences. During our Saturday Shabbat Kehillahs, monthly Shabbat dinners, and holiday celebrations, we delve into Israeli culture and history, Torah stories, Jewish values, Hebrew literacy and conversation, holidays, and prayers. There are opportunities for all ages to connect as adults stay and learn with each other.
